Hemingway: Republicans Need To Remind People What Happens Under Democrat Control Of The Government
FOX News contributor Mollie Hemingway advises Republicans on their midterm election strategy, urging them to highlight the economy’s performance and remind voters of the potential consequences of Democratic control on “The Ingraham Angle.”
LAURA INGRAHAM: Now, listen, I know everybody’s upset about gas prices, diesel prices, and the war. I am too. But that is temporary. It’s important that we not lose sight of the fundamentals of this economy, how it’s translating to a higher standard of living for all American families. So here’s some true nuggets that you’ve got to hold on to. U.S. retail sales are blowing past expectations. Income levels are the highest they’ve ever been. And last year, the real median household income was more than $ 87,000. That blows away our European counterparts. Canada was killing all those other countries. And under Biden, real median household income flatlined. Now, this fact helped explain Trump’s victory in 2024. And check this out. I love this fact. In the first year of Trump’s second term, real median household income grew by $ 2,250. That’s more growth in one year than Biden’s team achieved in four. Now think about this. If voters elect Democrats, they’re never going to get results like this, never. And remember, high gas prices, that’s the Democrat playbook. That’s what they want. They want all EVs, get rid of gas-powered cars altogether, keep gas prices high. They love Europe. Europe has high gas prices. So they will reverse a course for all this progress in every way imaginable. Here with us is Ned Ryun, CEO of American Majority, and Mollie Hemingway, Fox News contributor, editor-in-chief of The Federalist. Mollye, let’s start with you. Democrats, you know, keep saying the economy’s in terrible shape. Obviously, that works for them as the number one issue. However, are Republicans doing everything they can to make some of these salient points that I just made and reinforce what the Democrats will do once they’re back in power? MOLLIE HEMINGWAY: They’re not. They’re not seeming to realize how much the media will be complicit in helping Democrats win and have a good election. I love the numbers that you put out. There are others as well. The poverty rate is the lowest that we’ve seen in history, according to the Census Bureau. You have the Atlanta Fed saying that third-quarter GDP could be 5.1 percent. Young Americans without college degrees are having the best job situation in 20 years. You had those great August jobs numbers. You have record retail sales. So there’s a lot that could be talked about. And a lot of Republicans seem to have dropped the ball a bit on making that case and also reminding people it’s not just what has gone well, because people tend to vote more out of anger than out of appreciation, but also to remind people what happens under Democrat control of the government.
