Rep. Chris Deluzio (D-PA) joined MS NOW’s “The Weeknight,” where he noted he’s considering a Senate run against Sen. John Fetterman. EUGENE DANIELS, CO-HOST: One of your colleagues has been in the news quite a bit. I was at the — I was in Dallas at the convention when his name — face popped up. I’m talking about John Fetterman, the senator. REP. CHRIS DELUZIO (D-PA): Oh, I forgot. OK. DANIELS: Yes, I don’t know if you knew who that was. (LAUGHTER) DANIELS: I want to read from “The Washington Examiner.” He also attended a FOX News retreat at Rupert Murdoch’s ranch in Montana. This is new as of Tuesday. “The event hosted at the Murdoch family ranch the weekend of July 11 featured a panel on social media that Fetterman headlined with Senator Katie Britt,” who folks know he’s very close with. “The three sources and Fetterman himself confirmed his attendance at the retreat.” There has been a lot of talk about Fetterman and whether or not he’s representing the folks in your state well. DELUZIO: Yes. DANIELS: So, one, is he? And, two, are — is there someone maybe at this table from Pennsylvania, I don’t know, who might be interested in taking his spot in a couple of years? DELUZIO: Look, the people of Pennsylvania are frustrated with John Fetterman. I mean, we could talk about him cheerleading this Iran war. We could go on and on in the disagreements. He’s shown an unwillingness to do the job, almost a year without a public event in Pennsylvania. The voting record and attendance is abysmal. Democrats in Pennsylvania are frustrated. He’s wildly unpopular. And here’s the bigger problem. We’re trying to win the midterms. I’m campaigning all over Pennsylvania to help us flip congressional seats that might determine control of Congress. And, instead, we in Pennsylvania are having to put out fires that John Fetterman is starting. DANIELS: Should he resign? DELUZIO: We’re trying to win the midterms. He should serve as a Democrat that he was elected to be in the United States Senate. DANIELS: Do you think he should resign if he’s not? DELUZIO: If he doesn’t want to do the job and can’t do it — but my sense is, you have got a term left. Be a Democrat. Be the Democrat you were elected to be. That’s the thing you told the people of Pennsylvania you would be in the Senate. LUKE RUSSERT, CO-HOST: Fair to say you’re considering a run against him? DELUZIO: I am, but my focus right now is to win the midterms. I mean, if you care about this country and you want to have a government that’s not bogged down on Donald Trump’s corruption, you should want Democrats to flip the House. RUSSERT: Well, if you want to announce, you know where to do it.
