Carville: Trump “Catastrophe” Is So Devastating, “I Don’t Think It’s A Certainty” We Get Through This
POLITICS WAR ROOM: James Carville & Al Hunt delve into the chaotic nature of recent legislation, highlighting the lack of accountability among lawmakers and the consequences of their negligence.
AL HUNT, CO-HOST: I don’t have a view on whether this is a good or a bad measure, but senior senators like Chuck Grassley, the ranking Republican on the finance committee, said he had no idea this was in the bill. The 91-year-old Iowa Republican may be over the bend, but other senators said the same thing. They were in the dark. They were, this is not only the worst legislation, James, I’ve ever seen, but it’s the sloppiest, most careless. It really is a disgrace. It gets more disgraceful the more we learn about it, James. JAMES CARVILLE CO-HOST: Well, I don’t know how to say it, but you’re 100% right. And I don’t think we even close to finding everything that’s in here. It was intentionally jammed. It intentionally passed with all Republican votes. They didn’t want anybody to read it. It’s pretty clear. And it’s pretty clear they didn’t read it. And it’s pretty clear that the Supreme Court and the Congress have agreed to just turn over any power that they were constitutionally given and just give it to the executive. And the catastrophe is so ongoing, so devastating. I literally, among these people, I just, I hope to God we get through this. But I got to tell you, I don’t think it’s a certainty. I don’t think it’s a certainty at all.
