Susan Crabtree: Secret Service Supervisors Who Failed in Butler Got Promotions

RCP National Correspondent Susan Crabtree, Thursday on the RCP Podcast, spoke about her new scoop that the Secret Service suspended six agents involved in security preparations for the rally where Donald Trump was almost killed last year in Butler, Pennsylvania. Crabtree, with RCP’s Phil Wegmann, also wrote: “Trump Admin Touts Historic LA Cleanup, Blasts Newsom for Delays” “The real story is that the supervisors were not suspended,” Crabtree said. “Key supervisors – the ones who signed off on the security plan and walkthroughs – got promotions.” “Anyone who read your stories saw the cascading failures. Is this all the accountability we’re getting?” Cannon asked. “I’m skeptical,” she said. “Matt Quinn, the deputy director, talked about reforms in his interview with CBS yesterday. But they didn’t return my requests for comment earlier that day. “They’re not rushing to tell me anything – and they still have the same spokesperson who had to walk back several things after the attempt. “I asked whether they’ve implemented all the independent review board’s recommendations. One big one was to limit the Secret Service’s mission to just protection – not EBT scanner fraud, counterfeit currency, human trafficking, etc. That hasn’t changed. They’re still scattered in their focus. Mission One should be protecting key officials. Focus is lacking. “I support Sean Curran, the agent who pushed back – who repeatedly asked for more protection for Trump and Mar-a-Lago. He had the receipts. The security for Trump was piecemeal – even Jill Biden had more coverage at a 400-person indoor event. That’s now been corrected. But they’re still chasing other missions.”
