Tom Bevan: The Energy And Money In The Democratic Party Is Going To Progressives
Tom Bevan joined Mark Penn, Meredith McGraw, and Bret Baier on FNC’s “Special Report” panel on Friday to discuss what Democrats can do to improve their policy messaging and the winners and losers of the week. Democrats and Republicans have about the same favorability ratings in a new FOX News poll. “Ironically, despite the struggles they’re having,” Bevan said. “If you look at the congressional ballot–the question every pollster asks. ‘If the election were held today, who would you vote for, the Republican or Democrat?’ Democrats are leading by anywhere from 2 to 3 points in most polls. That’s the good news. Traditionally, they do better in that metric, and certainly the out-party has the advantage in the first midterm.” “But I think they have to be worried, because there is no consensus. There is no leader.” “But when you look at where all the money is going, AOC has raised $ 15 million, twice as much as Mike Johnson in the first six months of the year. Six of the top ten fundraisers are in the Progressive Caucus. You’ve got Mamdani in New York. You’ve got Fateh in Minneapolis. That’s where the energy and the money is.” “That’s not a lesson learned for a national election for a national party,” Bevan said.
