National Gardeners: Federal Troops In DC Seen Spreading Mulch, Picking Up Trash, Planting Flowers
Some of the National Guard troops deployed to prevent street crime in Washington D.C. have been observed picking up trash around the city this week. They were also seen weed-whacking at Hains Point and spreading mulch in McPherson Square. According to DC’s ABC affiliate, they plan to plant flowers next week.
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBER: We’re out here supporting the National Park Service and trying to keep D.C. and the federal areas clean. Just a lot of things. We got flood water from the Potomac that came up, and we’re just helping them, assisting them, and helping keep D.C. clean. We’ve been at this since Thursday of last week, but we’ve been here longer on a mission to try to increase the safety of D.C. as well-for about two weeks prior to that.

I respect the heck out of these guys for this.
It’s not glamorous work, but it collectively makes for a magnificent transformation.
They bring honor to our capital.
Thank you National Guard.
