Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: We Are Depoliticizing The CDC And Returning It To Gold Standard Science

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. argues direct-to-consumer pharmaceutical ads have had a “disastrous impact” on health and addresses his vaccine policy stances in an interview with Bret Baier on FOX News Channel’s “Special Report.”

HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES SECRETARY ROBERT F. KENNEDY JR.: And what we need is we need a CDC director who’s going to follow this science. And that’s what we’re going to do. We’re getting rid of all the conflicts and the committees that advise on vaccines. Our kids know that they’re getting the safest vaccine possible. Right now, there’s only 10 percent of American children who are complying with CDC’s recommendations. So the American public does not trust the CDC. We need to restore that trust, and we’re going to do that by depoliticizing the agency and returning it to gold standard science. BRET BAIER, HOST: And for the folks out there who are just worried, who are worried about not being able to get vaccines if they want them, what do you tell them? ROBERT F. KENNEDY JR.: People, nobody, anybody who wants a vaccine can get a vaccine. There’s no change that we’re going to make that is going to take away people’s vaccines if they want them. We’re saying that people should consult with their doctor, and if the vaccine is advisable, people should get it. BRET BAIER: And you’re going to keep coming with reports about what you see scientifically. Exactly. ROBERT F. KENNEDY JR.: We’re completely transparent in everything that we do. We’re telling people what we know and what we don’t know, and that was not true of the CDC in the past. It made assurances about things that, you know, they put masks on babies, two-year-old babies, three years, and they told us it was science-based. It wasn’t. It was a political decision. They allowed all of our schools to be closed, and that order was written by the teachers union, and it hurt working people all across this country. They said it was science-based, but it was a political decision. We’re getting the politics out of CDC and returning it to a science-based agency.
