Fleischer: The Only Thing Protecting America From Open Borders Has Been Trump, Democrats Want Open Borders
FOX News contributor and former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer on Tuesday said anti-ICE protests will only push the Democratic Party further to the left on immigration.
KELLYANNE CONWAY, FOX NEWS HOST: Ari, you were White House press secretary 25 years ago. I’m sure you didn’t deal with anything even remotely close to this, but you certainly dealt with existential threats from the home inside the homeland and outside the homeland. I mean, what is the real threat here? Do you just dismiss these people as a bunch of crazies with too much time on their hand, or do you think they actually pose a threat to some of our ICE officers? ARI FLEISCHER, FOX NEWS, FORMER BUSH WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY: Well, I did deal with them. They were outside every motorcade President Bush went on. When we went to Portland, they threw rocks at our motorcades. So, you know, the parents of these liberal protesters were out protesting back then. Now they’re grandparents and their kids are doing it. What I can’t stand about these protests is, first of all, Home Depot has nothing to do with this. They’re taking their anger that ICE is arresting people in Home Depot parking lots, which in many cases aren’t owned by Home Depot, out on Home Depot. They don’t even know who to protest right. And second, just the disregard for the law. It is the same consensus or imperative that drove Democrats to raise their hands and say we will decriminalize people who come across the border, which of course led to an invasion of people come across the border. The Democrats have that same fundamental deep flaw, whether it’s in a protest movement or on a presidential stage. They believe that people should come to America illegally. And these protests will be the energy driving the Democratic Party when they go to the primary polls and they have 20 candidates vying to see who can get further and further to the left to repeat the Joe Biden-Kamala Harris open border policies. The only thing protecting America from these open borders has been President Trump. These people want open borders.
