Gov. Tim Walz compared Operation Metro Surge, the unprecedentedly large federal immigration enforcement surge in Minnesota, to the Nazi occupation of Europe during a press conference on Sunday. Anne Frank was a Jewish teenager in Nazi-occupied Holland, famous for writing a diary while hiding in an attic. “Allow our children to go back to school. We have got children in Minnesota hiding in their houses, afraid to go outside,” Walz said. “Many of us grew up reading that story of Anne Frank. Somebody’s going to write that children’s story about Minnesota.”
