White House: Trump Still Wants Border Wall Built “As Quickly As Possible”

RCP White House reporter Phil Wegmann asked Karoline Leavitt at Tuesday’s briefing whether the president is satisfied with the pace of construction of the US-Mexico border wall after ten years:

PHIL WEGMANN, RCP: DHS Sec. Kristi Noem posted a photo, saying she signed the last contract for steel to build the border wall between Laredo, Del Rio, and Big Bend, Texas, amid reports that construction had stalled. Is the president satisfied with the pace of construction? KAROLINE LEAVITT: The president wants to make sure the full border wall is built as quickly as possible. This is a priority for him, dating back to 2016, and so absolutely he wants to ensure the border wall is built. Under budget and ahead of schedule is how President Trump likes building projects and that includes the border wall. WEGMANN: Is he satisfied with the pace of construction thus far? LEAVITT: I think the president is never satisfied. He always wants to ensure things are moving along as quickly as possible, but I know Secretary Noem is on it, and she’s doing a great job.
