Rep. Ro Khanna: “Tons” Of Prominent People In Epstein Files Need To Be Asked Some Basic Questions Under Oath
Rep. Ro Khanna tells “Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan” about his investigations into the Epstein files. He says he wants people whose names appear corresponding with Epstein, including Silicon Valley tech moguls, New York City cultural elites, and foreign dignitaries, to be brought before Congress under oath. “There are tons of people in there. I don’t want to be out there saying those names, because people might think I’m assuming guilt,” he said. “But they can just do a Google search and the names will come up.” “The fact that there are some of the biggest names in tech caught me by surprise,” he said. “So many people in New York, real estate moguls and finance folks. What caught me by surprise is how many of our elite are in those files. It caught me by surprise that he’s getting tips from the British prime minister about when to buy Euros, and he’s trading on that information. It caught me by surprise how close he is to world leaders, that he’s commenting on the Indian prime minister meeting the Israeli prime minister, about how to get access for foreign leaders. It caught me by surprise that he’s got pictures meeting with the CIA, and Bill Burns, who was thehead of the CIA.”
REP. RO KHANNA: It seems they’re protecting rich and powerful people who committed heinous crimes. This is what people hate about this country – that there is a group of rich and powerful people who are above the law. I call it the Epstein class. How is it possible that all these people knew Epstein? How is it possible they all wanted to go to his island – even after he was a convicted pedophile? I’ve said all those people should be hauled in front of Congress. Some of the biggest names in technology, real estate, finance – they’re benefiting because there are so many of them. People like Bill Gates think they can just hide, go underground, and avoid scrutiny. Just because someone’s in the files doesn’t mean they’re guilty. But they need to answer basic questions: – Why did you go to Epstein’s island? – What did you see happening? – What did you participate in? They should answer those questions under oath… What really surprised me is how many members of our elite are in those files. The extent of Epstein’s access to world leaders. The photos of him with intelligence officials. The conversations about foreign leaders. That level of access shocked me… What I’ve said is the president should appoint a trusted commission to review classified materials and issue a report. But what we do know: Epstein raped young girls. Underage girls were being paraded at his island, ranch, and New York residence. Powerful men attended these events. Some of those men raped underage girls. There are over 200 survivors. Only Epstein and Maxwell were prosecuted. That defies common sense. There needs to be investigation and prosecution. Some perpetrators left the United States. Some were never investigated. The DOJ hasn’t even questioned some of the people who went to the island. The statute of limitations hasn’t run in many cases. We will not restore trust if people believe rich and powerful men can rape underage girls and never face consequences. Americans are angry about the two tiers of justice. Massie and I have said this isn’t about Donald Trump or Bill Clinton. It’s about justice for survivors. That said, documents referencing Trump were briefly released and then taken offline. One question is why. Maxwell is being deposed. I want to know what happened on the island – including whether Trump had encounters with underage girls. She says she’ll take the Fifth. My position is simple: release all the files. Follow the facts. I don’t deal in conspiracy theories. CHANNEL 5: What document stood out to you as symbolic of the depravity? KHANNA: Emails discussing being with naughty girls, references to 9- and 11-year-olds, with names redacted. That’s the depravity. Not just what happened – but that names are being protected. I am convinced there were more rich and powerful men involved than just Maxwell and Epstein. Their names are being blotted out. That’s the tragedy. CHANNEL 5: You built a nonpartisan anti-pedophile coalition? KHANNA: Anti-pedophile and anti–rich-and-powerful-people-skirt-the-law coalition. Just because you have a billion dollars, just because you dine with presidents, doesn’t mean you get to rape underage girls. This isn’t political. It’s about justice. Democracy means no one is above the law.
