Bush WH Energy Adviser Bob McNally: “No Policy Solutions” To Prolonged Closure Of Strait of Hormuz
Bush White House energy adviser Bob McNally told “60 Minutes” on Sunday that there are “no policy solutions” that can respond to a prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
MCNALLY: I worked in the White House during an energy crisis. There are no policy solutions to a prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz… You open up the tool kit, and the options range from marginal, through symbolic, to deeply unwise. Escorts are a side show. Strategic stock releases are a sideshow. Gas tax holiday is a sideshow. You’ve got to restore the flow through the Strait of Hormuz… It’s not like there’s a big gate that swings open and Iran locks the gate. All Iran has to do is demonstrate every other day that they have the means and ability to attack sips in the strait, and that will be enough.
