Paul Annacone posts an encouraging Taylor Fritz update

It feels like forever since tennis fans have seen Taylor Fritz on the court. He has not played since the Miami Open in March.

Fritz had been trying to play through a knee injury, and when that was not helping him heal, he shut it down for about a month to get better.

Paul Annacone, of Tennis Channel, advises Fritz. His recent Instagram update gave fans reason to hope for a “Claylor” appearance yet this spring.

Annacone’s Fritz post

Annacone posted a close-up photo of a Roland Garros tennis ball, and a blurred picture of Fritz practing on a green clay court. The caption said: “gotta put in the work..smart work but still work @TaylorFritz

If that was not enough to brighten our spirits, the other piece of good news is that Fritz was not wearing any visible wrap or strap on the knee.

This implies Fritz is feeling much better and is confident enough in his movement on clay thus far in his preparation.

Fritz’s next tournament

Fritz is slated to play the ATP 250 Geneva Open beginning May 17. This will serve as his only clay court tournament this spring prior to Roland Garros.

Hopefully a one-week tuneup is all he needs to be ready for the French Open.

Fritz is 12-8 in ATP tournaments in 2026 and has dropped to World No. 7.

His personal life has taken center stage in recent weeks as rampid speculation of a breakup with longtime girlfriend Morgan Riddle was confirmed to be true.
