FLASHBACK, March 3 | Trump Says U.S. Strikes Killed Iranians He Hoped To Negotiate With: “Most Of The People We Had In Mind Are Dead”

President Trump took questions from reporters while hosting the German Chancellor at the White House on March 3, a few days after the beginning of “Operation Epic Fury.” President Trump revealed that the people inside the Iranian government he planned to negotiate with after the first round of strikes have apparently been killed. “Most of the people we had in mind are dead,” Trump said. “We had some in mind from that group that is dead.” The New York Times reported this week that one of those people could have been former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. “And now we had another group. They may be dead also, based on reports,” Trump said. “So, I guess we’ll have a third wave. Pretty soon we’re not gonna know anybody.” He added, referring to the quick strike on Venezuela in January: “I mean, Venezuela was so incredible because we did the attack and we kept the government totally intact.”
