Luigi Mangione’s attorney said Friday he has “accepted full responsibility for the death of Brian Thompson” by pleading guilty to two state charges of stalking and hopes that this will cause related federal charges (and possible death penalty) to be dropped. He is still pleading not guilty to the murder charge. He’s also facing charges for weapons possession and having a fake ID. His sentencing for the stalking charges is set for Dec. 18. Addressing the court, Mangione reportedly stated, “I shot Mr. Thompson in Manhattan, and he died.” He admitted to using a 3D printer to make a gun and tracking the executive after years of dealing with severe chronic back pain and frustrations navigating the health insurance system.
