Fox News host Jesse Watters hosted Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed about his positions on taxes, healthcare, the war with Iran, gender issues, and more. “We have one goal right now, to win Michigan, and given the fact my opponent is Mike Rogers, who you agree is a beta, it probably shouldn’t be very hard,” El-Sayed said.

“You have not asked me one time about the issues that people actually care about in Michigan,” El-Sayed told Watters. “You don’t want to talk about gas prices. You don’t want to talk about groceries. You don’t want to talk about health care. You don’t want to talk about the stupid trade war.” “You want to bring up all this culture war,” he said. “I’m out here trying to take on the health care crisis and Big Pharma, and you’re asking me about who gets to play what sports. It’s silly.” “I want to have a conversation about the issues that matter. Let’s talk about the things that people actually are talking about.” “Billionaires don’t make their money off of their labor,” El-Sayed said about his support for wealth taxes. “That’s not the fruits of your labor. That’s just the fruits of your money making money.” “If we tax you at 7%, you’re still going to make a cool $ 30 million off your billion dollars.” “I’m never going to defend the Iranian regime. But I am going to defend the idea that we probably shouldn’t be fighting wars we don’t know how to get out ofm”” he said about the Iran war.
WATTERS: You said getting rid of Sharia law is white supremacy? Can you explain that one?
EL-SAYED: Do you know what canon law is?
WATTERS: Yeah, tell me.

“Nobody is trying to push Sharia law on anyone else, just like I hope nobody is trying to push canon law on anybody else, because we live in an America where you should have the freedom of your religion<" El-Sayed said. "When people preemptively go out there and start preemptively passing laws to ban something that's not happening, what you're trying to do is target a very small community because they're different."
