Nearly 25,000 flights were delayed and more than 5,500 canceled over the weekend after the Federal Aviation Administration ordered airlines to cut flights at 40 of the busiest airports in the U.S. Much of the issue is due to a surge in air traffic controller sick calls as staffers go without pay during the government shutdown.
