Andrew Wilson: The Trans Agenda Has Stalled Because It’s Been Gaslighting People

Host of “The Crucible” Andrew Wilson commented on how “the trans agenda has stalled” this week on “Piers Morgan Uncensored.”

PIERS MORGAN: Let me bring Andrew Wilson in here. So, Andrew, I’m not even sure if you’re familiar with Graeme Linehan, but he’s one of the most successful comedy people in the country over here. He’s been at the center of this debate for a long time with his very stark views about the trans issue. He’s been bailed by the UK police, but only on the condition that he doesn’t go on X. He wrote on Substack: In a country where pedophiles escape sentencing, where knife crime is out of control, where women are assaulted and harassed every time they gather to speak, the state has mobilized five armed officers to arrest a comedy writer. What is your response to that? ANDREW WILSON: Well, his tweets are satirical in nature. It is comedy-based. He shouldn’t have been arrested. But she’s also wrong in the fact that, look, people are done with the trans thing. They’ve had enough of it. This whole idea that “they’re just regular people like you and me but happen to dress up,” that’s not really what’s going on. You’ve unleashed an entire fleet of mentally ill lunatics on the public, and now we have to deal with the fallout. We have to deal with these people on a day-to-day basis. A lot of people are sick of it. This guy is just echoing what’s in a lot of our minds: we’re tired of these mentally ill lunatics on our streets. We really are. AVA SANTINA: I find that really frightening. Why would you say someone is mentally ill because they feel they were born in the wrong body? Does that give you pleasure to stamp down on someone’s personhood? What’s the intent here? ANDREW WILSON: Do you value truth? Because here’s what’s true: if you’re a man, you can’t be a woman. If you’re a woman, you can’t be a man. Your attempt to gaslight everybody into opposing this truth builds resentment. And it’s that resentment that you have to deal with. You have done it to yourself. Like most of these things, the left has done this to themselves. It’s obvious people are not going to accept it. The trans agenda has stalled-and it has stalled the LGBTQ agenda with it-because you’re trying to gaslight people into something that is obviously not true. AVA SANTINA: I think if you look just 30 years ago in the United Kingdom, we were treating gay men in the same way we are now treating trans people. The mood shifts. It moves. The belief we need to hold is that if someone feels they are born in the wrong body, it doesn’t affect me as a woman if they decide they are going to be a trans woman. It doesn’t affect me. It doesn’t change the rate of assault. … PIERS MORGAN: As someone who’s always considered myself liberal-minded, here’s the problem: the moment this campaign started to allow trans women-biological men who identify as women-to compete in women’s sport, I couldn’t accept it. I have no problem with people being trans. I respect them. I want them to have rights to safety, equality, and dignity. But when someone tries to persuade me that allowing biological men, who identify as trans women, to compete in women’s sport, against actual women with women’s bodies, which we know are inferior in terms of power, strength, and endurance — when someone tries to persuade me that is fair, I think they are absolute lunatics. I’m not even sure they believe it themselves. Part of the problem here is that the trans lobby has brought this on themselves. If they had simply fought for equality, I’d be leading the charge. AVA SANTINA: What do you want them to do, cease to exist? PIERS MORGAN: I want them to have equality, security, and fairness. But not at the expense of eroding women’s rights. BEN HABIB: I agree with that. Fundamentally, the feeling that you’re a woman when you’re biologically a man is a mental health issue, that’s how it’s defined. If someone wants to identify that way, fine, that’s their prerogative. But in the current environment, regulations and legislation effectively discriminate in their favor-not just for equality, but for special rights: to enter women’s loos, to compete in women’s sports, to go into women’s prisons. All these things assault the very form of liberalism that emancipated women and brought them to equal footing with men. In pursuit of what I’d call ultra-liberalism, we’re setting aside women’s rights. We’ve lost sight of common sense. Just because a man identifies as a woman doesn’t make him a woman. He shouldn’t be allowed to infringe on women’s spaces.
