Fetterman: I Might Be The Only Democrat To Vote Against Iranian War Powers Bill, Proud To Stand With America and Israel
Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) appeared on “Hannity” on Saturday and criticized his Democratic colleagues for not being supportive enough of the U.S.-Israeli strike on Iran that left Ayatollah Khamenei dead. Fetterman called the strike profound and proved “naysayers” were wrong about the invasion. “I can’t imagine why Democrats, Republicans, everyone can’t celebrate that because tens of millions of people in Iran are absolutely celebrating that thing,” Fetterman said. “And that’s why I might be the only Democrat that would vote against the Iranian war powers bill, because that would be the kind of thing they would want to prohibit or block that from happening. And that’s why I’m proud to stand with the president for this, and Israel, and today was historic. And I can’t ever understand why everyone in my party can’t just unite behind what exactly happened today was necessary.” “People were so quick to criticize Israel or the president, what happened today, you know, and Iran, but they really didn’t say much to say when you massacred 35,000 Iranians,” the Senator said. “But thankfully, this was a great historic day. And I don’t care whatever Democrats think, but I’m proud to stand with America and Israel today.”
SEAN HANNITY, FOX NEWS: Tonight, at least one Democrat has the moral courage and clarity to stand up for what is right, even if that puts him on the same side as President Trump. Now on X earlier this morning, Senator John Fetterman posted, quote, Operation Epic Fury. President Trump has been willing to do what is right and necessary to produce real peace in the region. God bless the United States, our great military, and Israel. And joining us now with more, Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman. Senator, first of all, thank you for your moral clarity. Thank you for your courage. Thank you for putting politics aside and simply standing up for what’s right. I don’t know what’s what’s wrong with the rest of your party. Maybe you could explain it. SEN. JOHN FETTERMAN (D-PA): Well, I mean, what I can say is that why can’t we all just celebrate what happened today? That was just profound and incredible. And as you pointed out, as the president did, this was one of the most evil people that ever lived. And after 37 years and Iran, he’s been eliminated, you know, and I can’t imagine why Democrat, Republican, everyone can’t celebrate that because tens of millions of people in Iran are absolutely celebrating that thing. And that’s why I might be the only Democrat that would vote against the Iranian war powers bill, because that would be the kind of thing they would want to prohibit or block that from happening. And that’s why I’m proud to stand with the president for this and Israel and today was historic. And I can’t ever understand why everyone in my party can’t just unite behind what exactly happened today was necessary. And you might can say, well, we can never allow them to acquire a nuclear bomb until you’re willing to actually do something like that. And then it really doesn’t matter because what today happened today really did matter. And now you could have real peace in that region and a way forward, perhaps being freed from this toxic, awful regime. HANNITY: We can hope and pray. I hope you don’t mind me disclosing, but at 2, 3, 4, all the way, like till 10 o’clock in the morning, we were texting a lot because we couldn’t believe what was unfolding before our eyes and the incredible success. I mean, it takes such precision, skill, intelligence, training. I mean, we have the best military on the face of this earth. And to see this this moment in history where the Iranian people now hopefully have a chance to have freedom for the first time in, what, since 1979 is an amazing opportunity for them. FETTERMAN: Yeah, no, I mean, it’s truly incredible. And let me just say, like, all of the naysayers, you know, all these so-called experts, aren’t you ever tired of being wrong about this? You know, everybody claimed that this was going to turn into, like, a huge disaster or things could get out of get out of control. And that’s just absolutely not what happened. And what what America and Israel accomplished today was profound. And they quickly established air supremacy, not days, not weeks, but in hours today. And now they eliminated, you know, and I love that I watch those videos, they’re on your show, you know, just dismantling what’s left of the Iranian defenses like that. You know, I’m proud to stand, you know, with our military and stand with the IDF. And I don’t care if I’m a Democrat or Republican today, we should all be proud of what what happened today. And I know how grateful Israel is, because now Israel deserves to live in security and peace. And now what happened today? Now, how can Iran, you know, now rearm the proxies, and they can’t build a nuclear bomb anymore. So regardless, celebrating today should be bipartisan. And it should not be just because well, I’m not allowed to do that, or I’m going to anger the base to say what the president did was the right thing. The right side of history. HANNITY: Do you find it odd that the very people that were accusing Israel again, it would have been based on their population size, compared to ours extrapolated out on October 7, be the equivalent of 40,000 dead Americans in a day. Do you find it odd all the people that attacked Israel and accused Israel of genocide for daring to fight back and protect and survive, that their silence has been deafening as Iranian citizens have been slaughtered as they have just been, you know, going out in the streets crying for freedom. I’ll give you the last word. FETTERMAN: Yeah, no, I agree. Like he said, people were so quick to criticize Israel or the president, what happened today, you know, and Iran, but they really didn’t say much to say when you massacred 35,000 Iranians. But thankfully, this was a great historic day. And I don’t care whatever Democrats think, but I’m proud to stand with America and Israel today. Yeah.
