Halperin: Trump’s Messaging Doesn’t Matter If People Don’t See Better Economy Personally

Mark Halperin, speaking to the Charlie Kirk Show on Tuesday, discussed whether the Trump administration is losing touch with the conservative base on economic issues. “I think polls are fake,” Trump told FNC’s Laura Ingraham last night when she asked about widespread economic anxiety in America. “We have the greatest economy we’ve ever had.” “Just looking at the polling and talking to a lot of voters, it really doesn’t matter how you message it,” Halperin said. “Is the economy going to be better next year or not? The economy has a lot of strong signs, not just the stock market, but people are still really uneasy about the economy.” “It’s really simple, not just for a president who put affordability and the economy front and center, but for any president. Will people before the midterms or before the end of his presidency say this guy had a theory of the case for how to make our economy better?” he said. “I don’t think it matters how he messages. People aren’t looking for messaging; they want their lives to get better.”
