Hugh Hewitt: NYC Businesses Have To Do Everything They Can To Defeat Mamdani, Or They’re Going To Leave
FOX News contributor Hugh Hewitt called on New York City businesses to do all that they can to prevent Zohran Mamdani from being elected mayor. On FOX News Channel’s “Hannity,” Hewitt called Mamdani an anti-semite and the most radical candidate he has ever seen.
KELLYANNE CONWAY, GUEST HOST: So, Hugh Hewitt, to Horace’s point, if you look at who turned out and for whom they voted, Cuomo did fairly well with some of the African — a lot of the African-American voters, but Mamdani really won a lot of the rich neighborhoods. And I guess I’m asking you, isn’t it time for business to step in and speak up and step up and say, excuse me, we’re not capital elites, we’re employers, and if you kick more of us out of New York City, that you’re losing tax revenues, you’re using a lot of the flavorfulness of the city, you’re using you’re losing major employers? That hurts the people Mamdani pretends he’s going to help. What’s your message to business tonight? HUGH HEWITT, FOX NEWS CONTRIBUTOR: I think that they ought to be on alert and try and do everything they can to defeat Mr. Mamdani or they’re going to have to leave. I said earlier today on earlier FOX program, I expect Miami is rooting for Mr. Mamdani because they’re going to get all the banking and finance that leaves New York City. It’s a city of 8 million people. But there’s a huge sector of finance and banking that will flee from this, and capital is mobile. I also want to warn people, he’s on the — on the war path against housing. He wants to regulate rents. All that does is make housing scarcer and drive up rents. He’s on a campaign against basic centrism. He’s as most radical a candidate as I’ve ever seen nominated for a major office in any United States political race. He’s that radical. Parents in New York City have got to worry as well as well as business people because he has a direct impact on their schools. And I think it would be a disaster for this guy to win, but it’s New York City. I don’t know… CONWAY: Hugh, is this just freedom of speech? HEWITT: I believe he’s an antisemite. CONWAY: Yeah, you do. HEWITT: I think he’s an antisemite. Absolutely. I’ve read all of his statements, endorsing the Holy Land five, talking about global intifada, which is a call for the basically the extermination of Jews everywhere. If he gets 1 percent of the Jewish vote in New York City, that would be crazy. He shouldn’t get that 1 percent. He is a radical anti-Zionist, antisemite, and people need to hear that again and again because the evidence bears it out. If you just look at his record, you will recoil in horror from the things he has said and the people he has stood behind.
