James Carville: “I Don’t Want To Live In A Country That Makes T-Shirts, If I Can Buy Them From Somewhere Else”

Democratic strategist James Carville made a memorable argument against on-shoring jobs like clothing manufacturing during a NewsNation “town hall” on Wednesday night.

JAMES CARVILLE: I have on six items of clothes: shoes, socks, jeans, skivvies, t-shirt, and sweatshirt. You know how many of these were made in America? None! None! And I don’t want to live in a country that makes t-shirts, if I can buy them from somewhere else. We don’t need to do that, we make airplanes, we drill oil. We make all kinds of things, we don’t need to make t-shirts.

During NewsNation’s “Cuomo Town Hall” on President Donald Trump’s first 100 days in office, the president defended his tariff policy, saying he remains flexible and that the U.S. was in a critical period of transition. He also answered viewer questions, called himself a “great unifier,” and suggested trade deals with India, South Korea and Japan were coming soon. Host Chris Cuomo was joined by Bill O’Reilly, Stephen A. Smith, James Carville, and others to break down Trump’s biggest accomplishments and challenges during the live town hall, which was attended by Republican, Democrat, and Independent voters from across the country. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. also appeared to defend his response to the measles outbreak in the U.S.
