Josh Holmes: Texas Redistricting Is The Consequence Of What Democrats Have Done For Generations
“Ruthless” podcast co-host Josh Holmes on Tuesday’s “Special Report” reacted to Texas State Democrats fleeing the state over redistricting.
BRET BAIER, FOX NEWS: President Trump talking about the redistricting efforts in Texas as Republicans are calling Democrats back. Lawmakers have left the state in an effort to thwart that effort as you look at other states where Democrats are saying they may take their own redistricting action in response to Texas. We’re back with our panel. Josh, this tit-for-tat has gone on for years in different states and it’s coming to a head because it could make a difference in 26. JOSH HOLMES, ‘RUTHLESS PODCAST’ HOST: It could make a big difference. I think there’s a couple of things here. I think it’s a really bad look for those Democrats to leave Texas while they’re considering flood relief, setting redistricting aside, but I also get a kick out of the fact that Democrats are talking about some kind of a retribution or a consequence for what Texas is trying to do. This is the consequence. Democrats have been doing this for generations. The irony beyond all ironies that they went to Illinois where you could hit a three-wood across one part of some of their districts to connect one to another, it’s so gerrymandered, is crazy. So yeah, it’s a political process. It’s entirely appropriate and them abandoning ship and flood relief doesn’t look good to me.
