Kamala Harris: There Are “Lots Of Leaders” Of The Democratic Party, “I’m Not Going To Go Through Names”

Former Vice President Kamala Harris visited “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” for her first interview since the 2024 presidential election. Harris said “there are lots of leaders” when the host asked her to name who is leading the Democratic party.

STEPHEN COLBERT, HOST: Well, thank you so much for being here. It’s an honor to have you here to talk about the new book, “107 Days.” Got to read the book to find out most of the answers tonight. But I got to ask you something. Before you go, you’re no longer, you know, you’re in politics right now. You’re stepping away from that life right now. Who’s leading the Democratic Party? I’m just curious. FORMER VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS: There are lots of leaders. STEPHEN COLBERT: There’s generally a leader of the Democratic Party. You know, like, oh, that’s the leader of the Democratic Party. Who comes to mind? FORMER VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS: I think there are a lot of, I’m not going to go through names, because then I’m going to leave somebody out, and then I’m going to hear about it. But let me just, let me say this. I think it is a mistake for us who want to figure out how to get out and through this and get out of it, to put it on the shoulders of any one person. It’s really on all of our shoulders. It really is. STEPHEN COLBERT: Well, Madam Vice President, thank you so much for being here.
