Kennedy: Trump “Lets Me Do Stuff That I Don’t Think Anybody Else Would Ever Let Me Do”
HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. speaks at a Heritage Foundation event.
ROBERT F. KENNEDY JR., SECRETARY OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES: President Trump’s understanding of the uses of power and, you know, how strong the presidency actually is, how much leverage we have over all of these people, nations, corporations, who’ve been taking advantage of us in the past. And then also, just, you know, I think he’s probably the most business-friendly president we’ve had. Maybe George Bush was this business friendly, but he’s very business-friendly and he admires business people more than anybody. He, you know, he loves them. But he will not tolerate overreach and he doesn’t care about vested interests and he doesn’t care about, you know, about offending powerful people. So, it’s a joy to work for him because he lets me do stuff that I don’t think anybody else would ever let me do. KEVIN ROBERTS, HERITAGE FOUNDATION PRESIDENT: I’ll just observe, Mr. Secretary. It’s almost as if President Trump’s second term being in this year we’re celebrating America’s 250th anniversary is providential for the American people and your own leadership has been striking there. It’s why it was a heartfelt introduction for me that I do think you are the most consequential public health official certainly in my lifetime. I would sit here and have this conference. Yep, I think that’s true.
