Maher: If Your Whole Personality Is “What Are We Going To Do About Trump?” I Just Can’t
HBO host Bill Maher expresses his displeasure with people who make their whole existence about President Donald Trump in an interview with actor John Stamos on his podcast “Club Random.”
BILL MAHER: You’re very Trumpian in that way. You’re very nice in person. JOHN STAMOS: He was so funny to you. I heard. MAHER: Well, he wasn’t funny, but — STAMOS: He laughed at your jokes. MAHER: He, well, I don’t want to, we don’t want to get into politics. All I’m saying is he was extremely different. Maybe I’m the Trump whisperer, but I think, I think we would do a lot better to have more people like me talk to him. He is not against talking to people. He’s a guy from New York. Okay. He doesn’t want to be with a bunch of f*cking rednecks and simpletons, you know? I mean, he’s, does he like ass kissers? Yes, he does. So there’s always gonna be a couple of them around, but I think he, anyway, let’s not go there. STAMOS: You brought it up. MAHER: No, I didn’t. Did I? STAMOS: I don’t know. We’ve both been bringing it up. Trumpian. MAHER: It is hard. It is, it is a phenomenon we have never seen before. STAMOS: Right. MAHER: That one person would dominate. STAMOS: Every conversation. MAHER: Just the national debate. STAMOS: Every dinner, every f*cking — MAHER: For over a decade, you know, but, but, and I do think you have to fight that. Like I say, if that’s your whole personality is the first thing out of your mouth is “What are we going to do about Donald Trump?” I just, I just can’t. And you know, I can’t. First of all, I can’t. STAMOS: First of all, you don’t have the answer. MAHER: I don’t have the answer. Exactly. Somebody. STAMOS: But people think you do. MAHER: I can’t get away from these people.
