Wegmann: Sources Say Bolton Raid Was About Much More Than His Book, There Is “Some There There”
RealClearPolitics White House correspondent Philip Wegmann on Friday’s “Special Report” revealed there is “actually some there there” to the raid of former Trump national security advisor John Bolton’s house.
PHILIP WEGMANN, REAL CLEAR POLITICS: The president says that this is nonpartisan, that this is just law and order. And for proof in the Oval Office today, he said, look at some of my other enemies. They’re just fine. But the impression among the president’s supporters and one that I think FBI Director Kash Patel fed into with that cryptic post on Twitter is that this is cosmic karma, that this is John Bolton getting what he deserves for betraying the president. And in their mind, this isn’t the crossing of Rubicon after the raid on Mar-a-Lago, after Steve Bannon went to jail. The one thing that I think we do know right now, though, to your point, a judge signed off on this. And then my sources inside and outside of the administration, they say that this is about much more than the book. They say that there’s actually some there there. So we’ll have to wait and see.
