Women's Tennis Star Aryna Sabalenka Ripped For 'Dangerous' Behavior

Aryna Sabalenka is the No. 1 women's tennis player in the world, but she's getting blasted for her behavior over the weekend.

The 27-year-old women's tennis star lost in the semifinals of the Wuhan Open on Saturday. Sabalenka fell to U.S. star Jessica Pegula, 6-2, 4-6, 6-7. During the match, Sabalenka lost control of her emotions.

The four-time major champion lost three straight games in the third set, as things evened up, 5-5. During the 11th game of her final set, Sabalenka lost control. She ended up throwing her tennis racket across the court, nearly hitting a ball boy.

Sabalenka only received a warning for racket abuse. Thankfully, she didn't end up hitting the ball boy – though it was close. Tennis rackets don't weigh much – usually between 9 and 11 ounces – but they can still cause some damage if hurled at a high speed like Sabalenka did.

The No. 1 tennis star did recognize her mistake, putting a hand up and apologizing immediately.

Tennis fans blasted her for her behavior

"The most pathetic thing. Aryna will get away with it. A fine is nothing when you make millions on and off the court. Suspend them from tournaments and bit ones at that," one fan wrote.

"She’s an arrogant, entitled, overrated tennis player absolutely deprived of sportsmanship. It’s unfortunate that she couldn’t use the game to become a better person," one fan added.

"Ayrna has maturity problem when it comes to losing. Needs to grow up and learn to be a gracious loser. This sort of thing happened when she lost the AO final to Madi Keys earlier this year," one fan added.

"Shocking but not unexpected. American women on tour have given her a hard time this year. She does not appear to know how to lose gracefully," one fan added.

"I'm trying so hard not to dislike Sabalenka. She is a very good tennis player. But when is Sabalenka going to stop these tantrums? In any sport, you win some and you are sure going to lose other games," one fan added.

Sabalenka often uses her emotion to her advantage during matches, but this time, it went against her.
