Hoover Institution senior fellow Victor Davis Hanson on “Hannity” said the 2026 midterms have to be framed as unfinished business rather than a routine midterm election <\/p>\n
SEAN HANNITY, FOX NEWS HOST: So you have high-propensity voters, mid-propensity, and lower-propensity. Why is it that people that will show up and vote in a presidential election year, a lot of them tend not to vote in a midterm election year, because if everybody that voted for Donald Trump shows up to stop this radicalism, since 2019, you’ve got 250 DSA members elected. We have over 40 more of them on the ballot this year. Why won’t those people that showed up in 24? Why won’t they be there, some of them, this year? VICTOR DAVIS HANSON: I think they’re just inured. They look at the Donald, they see Donald Trump, and they say, he’s president, and we like what he did in the border, and we like what he did with energy development, we like what he did with crime, we like everything he did, so we’re just going to sit back and watch TV. And obviously, people will want that to continue, and they don’t, I think they say to themselves, why would that be unpopular? And I think that’s part of it. They’re just complacent, and they need to be shaken up and say, this is an existential threat, these people don’t like you, they want to change the existence of the United States. They never liked its founding, they didn’t like it in its maturity, and they hate it now in the current, and they don’t want it to continue. And it’s going to affect you if you elect those people. And they need to get that message out. It’s a twofold message. HANNITY: So give me the message, if you’re the Republican Party, you’re Donald Trump, and you’re a candidate this year, how do you try to build up, turn up, to equal what we see in a presidential year, presidential election cycle? What do you do, what do you say, how do you present this to voters? HANSON: I would say we’re only halfway done in this counter-revolution, this liberation from socialism. And we’ve made enormous progress, and if you stop now, and you let these people come in, they’re going to take us back to the Biden years and before. And we’re almost there. We’ve got the border closed. We’re starting the mass deportations. We’ve stopped crime. We’ve got a historic close of crime. We’ve stopped the packing the court. They’re not going to destroy the electoral college. We’ve got home ownership, we’ve got 160, but we’re not done yet. And we’re right at the apex, we’re right at the tipping point. If you stop us now, these people are going to come in with a communist, socialist agenda. So get out. It’s really desperate. We have to finish the job. So you have to get a message of what we’re doing and what we will do, and what the alternative is, a three-point plan.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
