JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said the U.S. economy remains strong despite the ongoing conflict with Iran, warning that rising gas prices may have some impact but are unlikely to derail growth. In an interview with FOX News Channel’s Brian Kilmeade on “FOX & Friends,” Dimon said successfully concluding the conflict is “much more important” than market performance. <\/p>\n
BRIAN KILMEADE, FOX NEWS HOST: Meanwhile, the Operation Iran is expected to last a few more weeks. How does that impact the economy? How has it already impacted the economy? JPMorgan Chase Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon with a big announcement to make. But first, great to see you, Jamie. Your reaction to the breaking news and what we know about this war. What kind of impact has it had on the economy? JAMIE DIMON, JPMORGAN CHASE CHAIRMAN AND CEO: So first of all, welcome. Thrilled to be here, all the FOX folks. You know, look, our economy is so big and complex and integrated and doing well. It’s been doing well for years. It’s prosperous. And so this isn’t going to have it’s one effect. So I don’t think it’s too short, really, to affect the whole thing. So obviously, gas prices going up, going to hurt people a little bit. KILMEADE: It’s $ 4. DIMON: But they still have money to spend. They still have jobs. So it remains to be seen. KILMEADE: How’s the market reacted, in your view? DIMON: I think the markets are unpredictable and it’s hard for me to tell you exactly what, but I think they’re just looking at, is there a chance something can go wrong? Now, we should all hope nothing goes wrong. We should all hope that these bad people, that we win this thing and clean up the straits and that Iran is no longer a threat to everybody. But the markets will be concerned until it’s over. But I think it’s very important. It’s much more important that this be successfully completed than what the market does. KILMEADE: And that sounds like what the UAE and Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states are saying. DIMON: Yes. KILMEADE: Finish this off the right way. They see the urgency here. Do you? DIMON: Yes. I mean, I hear some people say they weren’t an imminent threat. A threat means I’m threatening you. I might do something bad. These people have been doing something bad for 47 years. They’ve been killing people, they’ve been killing Americans, they funded that terrible Hamas thing. Several Americans were killed when — KILMEADE: On October 7th. DIMON: — on October 7th. And so they’ve had proxy wars, they’ve been threatening people. I think people were surprised to find out they had a ballistic missile and that can go 3,000 miles. These are bad people, and they needed to be stopped. And just who decide what now? I don’t know what the military knows. I don’t know what President Trump knows. I just think now we’ve got to finish this thing and finish it right.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
