Anthony Smith may have found a home in Gamebred Fighting Championships. <\/p>\n

In his first fight since retiring from UFC competition, Smith faced fellow UFC veteran Chase Sherman in the main event of Friday night\u2019s Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA card in the Dominican Republic. Smith used a precise jab, an insane quickness advantage, and his overall big fight experience to batter and overwhelm Sherman before getting the fight to the mat, and securing a rear-naked choke submission in the first round. <\/p>\n

Sherman tried to slow Smith down early on with leg kicks, but to no avail, as \u201cLionheart\u201d looked sensational in the bout. Not only was the jab landing, but the short hooks were finding the mark, which had a big effect on Sherman before getting the finish on the mat.<\/p>\n

Smith, a past UFC light heavyweight title challenger, now moves on in the heavyweight tournament for a $ 500,000 grand prize.<\/p>\n

Additionally, another one-time UFC title challenger at 205 advanced in the tournament as well. Thiago Santos picked up his first win since October 2021 with a dominant first-round TKO win against Guto Inocente in the co-main event. <\/p>\n
