While Levin said he believes it will be a Bass-Pratt runoff, Geragos made an interesting argument for a Raman-Pratt runoff.

HARVEY LEVIN: Yeah. Okay, last thing. I’m going to make a prediction and you make a prediction. I’m going to go out on a limb here. I think Karen Bass is going to get 22% of the vote. I think Spencer Pratt is going to get 38%. MARK GERAGOS: Oh, I think there’s a hidden contingent. You and I are both old enough to remember the Bradley effect. George Dukmejian, son of Armenian genocide, who ran for governor of California many years ago, and Bradley went into that election- That’s Tom Bradley, mayor of Los Angeles. Tom Bradley, mayor of Los Angeles, speaking of mayors, he was five points ahead in the polls. He was African American and he lost that election because nobody wanted to admit they were going to vote for George Dukmejian just because- Okay, so what’s the percent? The percent here is Spencer Pratt breaks 30%, which two weeks ago would have been unheard of, but I still think it’s a fight. I think Raman has a shot at getting into the runoff, which would just be incredible. LEVIN: No, no. You think- GERAGOS: I think she’s got a shot. LEVIN: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Then what you’re saying is you think Raman can beat Bass? GERAGOS: Yeah, I would never have said that 10 days ago. BASS: She’s not strong enough. She’s not strong enough. GERAGOS: I think a lot of the Bass contingent- LEVIN: That would shock me. GERAGOS: I just think there’s a possibility. LEVIN: So you think it’s going to be Raman versus Pratt? GERAGOS: I think there’s a distinct possibility that could happen. LEVIN: You’ve got to give me percentages here. GERAGOS: Okay, I’ll give you a percentage. LEVIN: I just went out on a limb and I said, Karen Bass will get 22%, Spencer’s going to get 38%. GERAGOS: Wow. You’re going to have to wait until next week. LEVIN: No, no. GERAGOS: I’m not going to give you the numbers. LEVIN: Dude, you can’t do this. GERAGOS: I’m going to set the over and under. LEVIN: You can’t do this! What a wimp. GERAGOS: I’ll set an over and under. I don’t think Pratt gets over 35. I’ll do that much. I will take the under on 35. LEVIN: Just because I went to 38. GERAGOS: You went to 38. You’re taking the over. I’m taking the under. LEVIN: Well, that’s just bullsh*t. GERAGOS: What’s the matter with that? That’s not bullsh*t. I could have set the over under at 37, but I gave you. I gave you a buffer. LEVIN: We’re not playing “Let’s Make a Deal.” I was asking you, you’re making this a game show, and I’m asking you about a political calculus. GERAGOS: Okay. The political calculus as we sit here today, what could change? Because as you’ve seen, the momentum is clearly with Pratt. As of right now, I don’t think he gets more than Karen Bass, but she is sinking. I think that Karen Bass voters to some degree go to Pratt, but to a larger degree, I think may go to Nithya Raman. LEVIN: And you know why I think it’s going to be about 38% for Spencer? Why? Because the people who win elections are people who can mobilize their base. And I think there’s an excitement to vote for Spencer Pratt, and there is no excitement to vote for Karen Bass. GERAGOS: I agree. But I’ll tell you, Raman’s got, she’s got a grassroots support. So it’s a fascinating race. Anyway, you kind of, by the, I almost said- Oh God, dude, you’re going to be drunk by the time this is over. I know. Three months ago, I thought to some degree it was Raman’s race to lose. Isn’t that amazing? LEVIN: No, I thought that, well, it’s only because Spencer didn’t seem like a serious candidate three months ago. And it’s, the world has changed. It certainly has. It’s fascinating. I will talk to you next week.

RealClearPolitics Videos

On this episode of “2 Angry Men,” Harvey Levin and Mark Geragos discuss the Los Angeles mayoral race, Spencer Pratt’s unexpected political momentum, and the growing frustration many Angelenos feel over homelessness.
