(Photo by Michael Hickey\/Getty Images) | Getty Images\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On training camp eve, Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard indicated that the club currently intends to keep all three quarterbacks: Daniel Jones, Anthony Richardson, and Riley Leonard. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While Richardson\u2019s earlier offseason trade request still stands, the Colts have appreciated the ongoing positional competition between Leonard and him behind Jones, with Richardson consistently being a high quality teammate\u2014and don\u2019t plan to \u2018give him away\u2019 by any means (via WISH-TV): <\/p>\n<figure>\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\"><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/hashtag\/Colts?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Colts<\/a> general manager Chris Ballard said the intention is to keep all three quarterbacks: Daniel Jones, Anthony Richardson, and Riley Leonard.  <\/p>\n<p>Ballard on if Richardson&#39;s trade request is still on the table:  <\/p>\n<p>&quot;It is, but\u2026 we&#39;re not just giving him away.&quot; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/KJNeDxTOx9\">pic.twitter.com\/KJNeDxTOx9<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 WISH-TV News (@WISHNews8) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/WISHNews8\/status\/2082138651748647102?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 28, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps it\u2019s purely trade posturing, but Ballard insinuated that he believes Richardson still has a bright future in this league\u2014although he stopped short of saying it will continue to be with the Colts. It\u2019s worth noting that Richardson is in the last year of his Colts rookie contract, and Indy would save $  5.385M if traded this season. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With Jones limited, the Colts had been splitting offseason reps between Richardson and Leonard with the first-team offense. It\u2019ll be interesting to see who primarily receives the backup quarterback reps behind Jones now or whether it\u2019ll continue to be a split throughout training camp and preseason until the QB2 victor emerges. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At any rate, it seems as though if the Colts get meaningful trade return value for Richardson, they may move him. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Otherwise, given that Jones is coming off a torn Achilles and has had some durability concerns throughout his career\u2014dating even back to his New York Giants days, it may be more prudent to keep him around for additional quarterback depth, with Leonard only having one career start to his name. <\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/articles\/colts-currently-intend-keep-three-024417933.html\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA &#8211; JUNE 11: Daniel Jones #17 and Anthony Richardson Sr. #5 of the Indianapolis Colts participate in minicamp at Indiana Farm Bureau Football Center on June 11, 2026 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
