Gov. Andy Beshear (D-KY) criticized Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) for demanding Dr. Anthony Fauci “answer to the people of America,” but won’t do the same to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who is 84 years old. <\/p>\n
JOHN FUGELSANG, HOST: So, Governor, what you’re saying is that you are not going to leave your state, fly to D.C., dress up in a doctor’s costume, sneak into a hospital, somehow locate the room, and on your own achieve proof of life from Senator McConnell. Is that what you’re saying? You’re not going to have John Fetterman put on a doctor’s suit and sneak into a hospital? GOV. ANDY BESHEAR (D-KY): What I’ve found is, as governor, it’s pretty hard to sneak into anywhere. You have a decent number of people around you, security and the rest. But no, breaking into a hospital is not something that anybody ought to do. And listen, I respect people’s privacy about their health, but when you run for one of these jobs, you give some of it up. That’s what you do. But I am applying pressure. Part of what we’re seeing is because I’m pushing. But let me mention one last thing. FUGELSANG: Please. BESHEAR: Mitch McConnell cares about his legacy, and he’s ruining it. Listen, I think his legacy is one of over-politicizing everything in the Senate. I don’t think it’s a positive legacy, but I know he thinks his legacy is being the longest-serving majority leader in the Senate’s history. Well, guess what? On his Wikipedia page five years from now, that’s going to be a paragraph. But what we’re going through right now is going to be a page. And today I was also asked to respond to Rand Paul saying I was grandstanding on this. Well, Rand Paul is another Republican U.S. senator from Kentucky in D.C. right now. He hauled in an 85-year-old Anthony Fauci, saying, “You must answer to the people of America,” and he won’t do the same for Mitch McConnell. FUGELSANG: That’s it. And again, Rand Paul is much geographically closer to the hospital to check on Senator McConnell than you, sir.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
