Hasan Piker on Bill Maher’s Threat To Vote Republican: “Let The Trash Take Itself Out”

Podcaster and Democratic Socialist advocate Hasan Piker responded to critics who say he should not be a prominent voice in the Democratic Party as a whole. Talk show host Bill Maher said last week that the party is being “colonized” by “communists” and he is considering voting Republican in 2028. Clinton-era Democratic strategist James Carville addressed Piker directly, saying: “I have no intention of ever being in the same political party with that guy.” “Hasan Piker and James Carville are not going to be in the same political party. One of us is going to leave. It might even be me,” Carville said. “They were nice to you because you’re cheap. One meal and a smile,” Piker said to Maher. “I welcome this personally. Let the trash take itself out.” “The Republicans call everybody a communist — they called Nancy Pelosi a communist,” he said. “It’s no longer the Cold War; do not fall for it.” “The masses do not have a $ 100 million contract from HBO to smugly speak about how everything is actually fine, and we should be more ruthless to marginalized communities,” he said. “You know what else you find in a big tent?” Maher quipped. “Clowns.” “When you leave, there will be one less clown,” Pike replied. “It’s pretty simple. If you have dinner with Donald Trump and normalize his odious behavior and worldview, while opposing anything to your left, you’re not a Democrat or a liberal — you’re not an anti-fascist, you’re a fascist.” “It’s so funny that this is presented as like a ‘fresh take.’ Wow! We know, man.”
