TERRY MORAN, FORMER ABC NEWS REPORTER: Scott Pelley, my friend, good for you. That’s the way you leave a job, with your back straight and your heart full, telling the truth right to their faces. Good for you. What’s happening at 60 Minutes and at CBS News is tragic. For more than half a century, 60 Minutes has been the crown jewel of American journalism, week after week, delivering investigations and stories and interviews that hit home, stirring its audiences to think, to wonder, to rise up and demand change. Few brands in the history of American journalism have been more iconic, and none has been more impactful than 60 Minutes. And now, in a matter of a few days, they’re burning it all down. They’re burning it all down. And let’s not mince words. Let’s be frank. Let’s be like Scott Pelley. They’re burning it all down because they want to please Donald Trump and his political movement, because the new owner of CBS wants to make sure that his business interests come out right under the Trump administration, so that he personally can get even richer and even more powerful than he already is. It’s tragic. News divisions have always lived inside big corporations. And I can tell you, from experience, that could get tense. But there was always a wall between owners on one side and journalists on the other. And the only question is now, is that wall still standing at CBS News? And how long can it stand anywhere else in corporate media?
