Charlie Hurt: Rural Republicans Are Resisting Data Centers Because Of “Corporate Welfare”
On Friday’s edition of “The Five,” FOX News host Charlie Hurt argues that rural Republican opposition to data centers is driven in part by concerns over corporate welfare.
CHARLIE HURT, FOX NEWS CHANNEL HOST: And when it comes to the data centers, he’s glossing over. You know, when you go to rural parts of this country, mostly Republican areas, by the way, that are resisting these data centers. The reason they’re resisting the data centers is because they these data centers are being sold to them with corporate welfare the exact same way that Bernie Sanders and all of his buddies sold all of the windmills and the solar farms to our areas and we don’t want them. We don’t want that. We want — and that’s why I think Donald Trump has actually sort of thread it — yet again has threaded the needle very smartly politically where he says — he shows respect to the voter and he says listen these data centers are great. Maybe you agree or don’t agree but — and then makes the argument for why you would want a data center in your area because they, you know, make a lot of money or whatever. I’m still suspicious. I know a lot of my neighbors are still suspicious, but Bernie Sanders isn’t the answer, and he’s never going to be the answer.
